Paytm Ties Up With Tata AIG To Provide Health Insurance To Auto And Cab Drivers
Paytm seems to be at the forefront of innovations. After their highly successful mobile recharge business model, it has now focussed on the Insurance sector. They seem to taken PM Narendra Modi’s path of tapping the sector which has a considerable amount of people who are uninsured.
As a stepping stone, they have chosen the car and auto drivers across the country. Thanks to Mobile Payment Company, Paytm, Millions of cab and auto drivers across India can now buy health insurance. Paytm has tied up with Tata AIG to provide cashless health to the cab and auto drivers.
As per this scheme, the drivers can avail up to Rs 50,000 as hospital charges; the report from Hindu Business Line said. This offer is available only to drivers who accept Paytm money as Fares. Till date, about 1,800 cab and auto drivers have signed up to this service in Delhi/NCR region.
In India, the health insurance sector is still at a nascent stage and all the major insurance companies are now trying to tap this market. Paytm also seems to be interested in this market and hence has taken this baby steps towards the health insurance industry.
Besides the mobile recharge venture, Paytm has already forayed into many other segments including the flight ticket booking, hotel booking and also entered the e-commerce space.
