The Greatness Of My Tirupati

Tirupati is one of the largest cities in Chittoor District, which is located in the state of Andra Pradesh. As everyone knows,Tirupati is a renowned pilgrim and tourist place in India. Most of the people don’t know that it is the second richest religious place in the World.

Oftentimes, people usually get confused between Tirupati and Tirumala. Let’s try to clarify this over here.

Tirumala is the abode of Lord Venkateswara and the word is derived from the Tamil word Tiru which means “Holy” and Mala means hills; this loosely translates as “Holy Hill”. The name is also the collection of seven.

Tirupati, on the other hand, is the place located at the foothills of Trimala it also is known as “Lower Tirupati”.

Tirumala is located 980m above the sea level and covers approximately 26.8 km2. All the seven hills named as Seshadri, Neeladri, Garudadri, Anjanadri, Vrushabadri, Narayanadri and Venkatadri. Lord Balaji located on the seventh peak that is, Venkatadri Hill.

There is a separate department called “TTD” to maintain the Lord place, Tirumala. The distance between Tirupati and Tirumala is 8km. We can reach Tirumala by road transportation. For every 10 minutes, there is one bus from Tirupati to Tirumala.

After separation of states, Tirupati city is selected for “Smart City” and it is one of the futures IT HUB.

One other important place is in Tirupati, is the “Sri Venkateswara University” probably called as “SVU”. It is one of the oldest Universities in Andra Pradesh.  The auditorium of SVU is the second biggest Auditorium in Asia, constructed without pillars under the guidance of great Civil Engineer, Sir M Visweswaraih.

Tirupati is also home city for many educational institution and universities. There are few more pilgrim places surrounded by Tirupati. They are:

Kanipakam – Where Lord Ganesha located and the name of the god is “Varasiddi Vinayaka”

Sri Kalahasthi – Where Lord Siva located and the name of the god is “Mallikarjuna Swamy”

Narayanavanam – Where Lord Balaji located and the name of the god is “Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy”

Talakona – The highest natural waterfalls in Andra Pradesh is Where Siva is located and the name of the God is “Sri Siddeswara Swamy”.
