RedBus Acquires Majority Stake In BusPortal.pe

Online Bus Ticket Booking Portal Redus, has now acquired Peru based Bus Ticket Booking startup Busportal, for an undisclosed amount.

With this acquisition, the Ibibo owned Redbus, will now set its eye on the Latin American Market. It may be recalled, Redbus, had earlier marked its presence in Singapore and Malaysia.

Busportal was co-founded by Hassan Bourgi and Carol Riboud in the year 2012, and will continue to head the new venture and will help redBus to expand its business into Peru, Colombia and Chile; the report stated.

Busportal currently covers more than 70 percent of the routes in Peru and allows users to compare book bus ticket at around 20 bus operators.

This new collaboration will make use of the technology of Redbus Technology and Busportal’s local expertise to deliver better quality services to the consumers.

Redbus is currently selling more than 60 million tickets through its desktop and mobile platform and has tied up with more than 2,300 bus operators and is operating across 70,000 routes in India.

Redbus was founded by a group of BitPilani educated friends in the year 2006 and was acquired by GoIbio for an undisclosed amount in the year 2013.

Besides Redbus, Ibibo team is also having other travel platforms including Goibibo at which it runs the travel booking and Car – Pooling App Called Ryde.
