Flipkart is in the news for many reasons. This includes the changes to its business strategy and its core team including bringing back its former employee Kalyan Krishnamurthy. It is now in news once again.

This time, it’s for re-launching its private label business model which it earlier had tried to sell hard but had failed to meet the desired expectation hence was shelved. However, it is trying to take another stab at this model in order to generate more income.

As per industry sources, the profit margin in private label products is high and it is interesting to see how this pans out for it.

Bengaluru-based Flipkart will initially plan to launch Flipkart Mobiles, Jewellery, and fashion accessories. Based on the results they are planning for few more products in other categories.

It has been reported  by Business insider, that there will be few changes in the management team as well.Mausam Bhatt, who was earlier, worked as senior director in the company has now been elevated to the post of Vice – President in order to oversee the Private-label business.

There has been a little tweak in the model and as per this; Flipkart will license the Private label brands to sellers who will be responsible for delivering the products as per the standards specified by Flipkart.

The company plans to launch this new segment in the month of August and have started making all the right moves for this.
